3rd Grade Expectations

  • Incoming 3rd Grader Expectations

    *Can record homework daily in a school provided planner and bring home all needed materials

     

    • Can write legibly in print and complete assignments neatly

     

    • Can turn in assignments whenever they are due (nightly HW/long-term projects)

     

    • Can bring to and from school: notes, forms, Friday folder

     

    • Can raise their hand to ask questions and wait to be called on

     

    • Can work quietly on classwork

     

    • Can keep their desk area clean and organized

     

    • Can line up in front of the classroom each morning: no loud talking or disturbing others, no playing or running around

     

    • Can tie their own shoelaces

     

    • Can cover their mouth to sneeze or cough

     

    • Knows all of their addition and subtraction math facts as well as the 0’s, 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s of multiplication

     

    • At this age, it is very important that students start to develop their independence and personal responsibility. In addition to the items above, this also means that children should learn to double-check their own backpack to make sure all their homework and books they need are packed up, that they can carry their own backpack and lunchbox to and from school, and that they don’t need their parents to wait with them in front of the classroom until the school bell rings each morning.
