Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Eva Yu
My family has lived in West San Jose since 1993, and both of my sons completed their elementary school here at Portal. While my kids were young, I was an active volunteer parent, and later became an on-site Portal substitute teacher. My passion of working with children carried me to my next career of becoming a full time teacher. I received my teaching credential from Santa Clara University, and have been teaching at Portal as a 4/5 teacher for the first four years, the next eight years as k/1 teacher, and now the second year in room 3 as the 2/3 teacher.
It has been fantastic working with my partner Mrs. Smithwick, 2/3 children, their wonderful parents, and our fabulous staff. I am an energetic and organized teacher, and I have tons of patience for my students. It’s a privilege to work with a group of students who are talented, well behaved, and eager to learn! Here at Macaroni, every day is full of learning not just for the students, but for the teachers as well. Together we make learning fun and enjoyable!
When I am not teaching, grading, cleaning, or planning my lessons in the classroom, I love to read, munch fruits, travel, watch movies, bike, dance in the gym, work in my backyard, and listen to all kinds of music. I have been to several countries, and it's always an eye-opening experience to learn about a different culture from my students and their parents.
