My name is Anu Srikumar. I come from a family of three generations of educators and I was the only one in my family who had stars in my eyes when I discovered computers. That interest led me to earn my Masters in Software Engineering and I worked for more than 10 years in various tech companies. I have two daughters and when they started going to school I was amazed by the new STEAM-PBL and Maker programs in their schools. Seeing what kids nowadays could do with EdTech, was an eye opening experience and I felt like I had found my calling in life which meshed both my worlds together and decided to go back to college and get my Masters in Education from SJSU.

When I am not at school, you might see me hanging around in the local public library, checking out the children's bookshelves. I also love to travel and explore new places with my family. Fun fact about me: I have lived in five different cities in three different countries in the past 12 years.

• I have lived in the Bay Area all of my life and love all that it has to offer — including the wonderful school districts, such as Cupertino Union.

• I have four, fabulous children.

• I graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Child and Adolescent Development.

• I believe children learn best when they are having fun and are free from worry. Therefore, each year the students and I embark on a learning journey full of fun and adventure, in an environment where they aren’t afraid to take risks, where they will encounter challenges and make discoveries, where they will set goals for themselves and learn how to achieve those goals.

I attended U.C. Davis, where I obtained my degree in English and Spanish, and a bilingual teaching credential.  I also have a master’s degree in curriculum and development, with a minor in early childhood education.  I have been teaching for over twenty years in a variety of grade levels, but I absolutely love teaching kindergarten.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching soccer and baseball, going for hikes, and reading. I truly believe in our class motto: No one can do everything, everyone can do something, and together we can accomplish amazing things.
