It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you and your child to my website. Each August, I look forward to the sights and sounds of children working, playing, laughing, and learning. Having your child in our classroom is a special honor, and I take great pride in leading your child to the next step in his/her educational future.

I'm really excited and looking forward to work with children !  I have a great work relationship with my colleagues, and I know that we'll once again make an excellent team - working collaboratively much like the 3rd grade students will be.

I believe that all children have the capability of learning and that they innately want to learn. With this in mind, I must stress that listening during class hours and doing homework are ALWAYS important areas of your child’s curriculum. Provided that your child works efficiently in class and at home, your child should expect homework each day from Monday through Thursday. There will be homework on weekends for reports or completing unfinished work. Your child is expected to read 20-30 minutes daily, as well as spend 60 minutes on Compass Learning on a weekly basis – including: weekends and holidays.

Everyone learns best when he/she feels valued, heard, and respected. With this in mind, feel free to let me know when changes occur in your child’s life that may affect his/her behavior or academic performance. Please remind your child that this is a new year, and they have the power to make it whatever they choose.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call. My preferred mode of communication, however, is through e-mail; I check my mail several times each day.

Sincerely,

- Mr. Wong

My name is Bonnie Chow. I realized as an adult that "Learn by Doing" is the way I learn best, and De Vargas' STEAM/Maker program encourages that growth mindset. I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, and have been in CUSD and De Vargas for over 23 years. I studied Biology and Social Sciences at UC Irvine, earned my teaching credential and Masters in Education at Claremont University, and most recently, earned my Administrative Credential from the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

Aside from STEAM and working with children, I enjoy many other activities. I am a HUGE Disney fan and enjoy going on vacations with my family, which includes 3 boys. Whenever possible, I enjoy shopping, eating, watching some of my favorite shows and movies (some include Star Trek, all things Marvel, Galaxy Quest, Star Wars, Pokémon, etc.), PokémonGo!, playing basketball, and archery.

Fun Fact: The book Anne of Green Gables inspired me to go into teaching.

Hello! I've been a teacher at De Vargas for many years. I love this school community! Some of my favorite things to do are spending time with my family, watching my kids play sports, hanging out with friends, reading, shopping, and traveling.
