The State of California immunization law requires all students entering 7th through 12th grades in California, to be immunized with a pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine booster called Tdap (tetanus toxoid, reduced diptheria toxoid and acellular pertussis). Students who don’t provide this proof will NOT receive their 2019-2020 class schedule for 7th grade. Further information is available at www.shotsforschool.org.
Now is the time for 6th grade parents to check their child’s immunization records and make an appointment with their healthcare provider, or clinic, to obtain a Tdap booster shot, if needed. After your child receives the Tdap booster shot, please provide proof to the school office by dropping it off, mailing it or sending a copy in with your child. The proof can be an updated immunization card or a special Tdap form from the doctor’s office.
