Citizen's Advisory Committee
Having completed the five Board Listening Sessions, followed by the Board discussion during the 2019-20 school year, the CUSD Board of Education approved the formation of a Citizens Advisory Committee charged with developing a concrete plan to use facilities in new ways that take into account both immediate/urgent budgetary issues, as well as provide long-term fiscal solvency and stability. It is our hope that the proposed plan addresses ways to balance enrollment, in concert with the Board's stated criteria/guiding principles. The first draft of the plan will be ready for presentation to the Board for consideration at the Board meeting on October 24, 2020.
Interested members of the CUSD community were invited to submit applications in February, 2020. After interviewing all applicants, an outside contractor with input from a Judge selected a committee that ensures objectivity, neutrality, balance, and equity.
This Superintendent's Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), led by a third-party neutral facilitator, will meet at least five times (usually in 3-hour sessions) between August and October. Over that same period, Board Meetings will be held in order for the Board and the public to hear and make comments on what the CAC has discussed and accomplished up to that time. Like all meetings of the Board, these are open public meetings that have time set aside for Public Comment.
The Committee will meet on the following dates from 5:30-8:30 pm.
- Thursday, August 20, 2020
- Tuesday, September, 8, 2020
- Monday, September 21, 2020
- Thursday, October 1, 2020
