• The Cupertino Union School District (“District”) Board of Education (“Board”) is seeking volunteers to serve on the District’s 7-11 Committee (“Committee”).  The purpose of the Committee is to evaluate current and potential uses and space availability at the Meyerholz and Regnart sites, and to advise the Board regarding alternative and potential uses and space at these two sites.

The Committee will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating all relevant data, documents, reports, and studies to provide the Board with the best possible judgment regarding every situation involving District school buildings, space, and property.  The Committee shall consider: (1) how best to maximize use of District property for District needs, including methods to maximize income from District property and educational or after-school program options for specific school sites, and (2) alternative uses for specific school sites, including long-term leases and child care programs.

Appointment, membership, and duties of the Committee will follow the parameters of Education Code section 17387 et seq., although the duties, roles, and responsibilities of Committee members may exceed those set forth in the Education Code.  Committee members will be appointed to represent a cross-section of the local community regarding socio-economic composition, ethnic group, profession, expertise in land use planning, among others.  Committee members will be required to attend Committee meetings, typically in the evenings, and will be composed of not less than seven and no more than eleven members, hence the “7-11 Committee” name.  The Board may, in its discretion, also identify alternate members to appoint the Committee in the event of a vacancy.

To be considered for membership, applicants must live within the District’s boundaries
