Points of Service

 

  1. Safe and Supportive Environment: Programs are conducted on campus with supervised transitions from the school day to ELO-P. Emphasis is placed on social-emotional learning, fostering friendships, and creating a sense of belonging for each child.

  2. Active and Engaged Learning: Educational enrichment includes physical fitness, active outdoor playtime, STEAM projects, hands-on activities, and development of the 5Cs (Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Citizenship, and Communication skills), and social-emotional learning.

  3. Skill Building: Daily opportunities for students to enhance academic skills in English Language Arts and Mathematics using digital platforms like iReady. Tutoring support is provided for homework completion. English Learners focus on English Language Development. Students practice skills aligned with the District's Portrait of a Learner.

  4. Youth Voice and Leadership: Formation of a Student Advisory Board comprising student leaders in grades 3-6 to provide input on program development and evaluation. Student leaders collaborate with district and program staff.

  5. Healthy Choices and Behaviors: Focus on holistic well-being by providing nutritious foods, scheduling physical activities, and promoting social and emotional wellness. Student Nutrition Services (SNS) partners in meal provisions during summer and camp programs.

  6. Diversity, Access, and Equity: Inclusive program design serving students in grades TK-6, including English Learners, Low-Income, Foster Youth, and students with disabilities in qualifying groups. Staff receive training in supporting diverse learners, and parent engagement is facilitated through community resource specialists and liaisons. Communication with parents is facilitated in their home language via Parent Square.

ELO-P Elements
  • Educational and Literacy Element: Provides tutoring or homework assistance in areas such as language arts, mathematics, history and social science, computer training, and science.

  • Educational Enrichment Element: Includes, but is not limited to, fine arts, career technical education, recreation, physical fitness, and SEL activities.

  • Accommodation must be made for pupils with disabilities. Under Federal and State law publicly-funded programs cannot discriminate against pupils based on disability. In individual situations, a pupil with a disability may need accommodations to meaningfully access an ELO-program.  If your child with an IEP or 504 will attend ELO-P and you have questions about access, please reach out to your case manager.
