The Cupertino Union School District provides the following comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverages for its active employees, retirees, and their eligible dependents:
Medical - the comprehensive medical plan options available to CUSD employees and their eligible dependents are Kaiser, Sutter Health Plus, United Health Care (UHC), and Health Savings Account.
Dental - the comprehensive dental plan options are through Delta Dental. CUSD employees and their eligible dependents can choose between a PPO or a HMO plan.
Vision - CUSD provides vision coverage through Vision Service Plan (VSP) for its employees and their eligible dependents.
Group Life Insurance - CUSD provides employees a $100,000 Group Term Life and a $100,000 Group Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance coverage. Coverage for eligible dependents is $1,500 for term life only.
Voluntary Term Life - CUSD employees who work a minimum of ten (10) hours per week may purchase additional life insurance for themselves and their eligible dependents. They may also elect an additional term life insurance of up to five (5) times their annual earnings.
Voluntary AD&D - CUSD employees who work a minimum of ten (10) hours per week may purchase additional AD&D for themselves and their eligible dependents. They may also elect an additional AD&D insurance of up to ten (10) times their annual earnings.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) - CUSD employees can set aside pre-tax dollars for a Healthcare Reimbursement Account and/or the Dependent Care Assistance Program.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - offers free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up services to CUSD employees who have personal and/or work-related problems.
Employee Retirement Savings Plans 403(b)/457(b)
All CUSD employees (full time, part time, substitutes, and on-call) are eligible to participate in two pre-tax retirement savings plans through payroll deduction - the 403(b) tax deferred annuity plan and the 457(b) deferred compensation plan.
All CUSD staff will need to work directly with the provider to open an account and complete the enrollment process. Choose a company from the following approved lists and contact the provider for enrollment forms and instructions.

Once the account is active, complete and submit the SRA, Salary Reduction Agreement (see below) to Payroll by the 10th of the month to start payroll deduction on that month's payroll:
For 2024, the limit on elective deferrals (the maximum amount staff can contribute to a 403(b) account out of salary) is $23,00. For staff who are age 50 and above at the end of the calendar year, they can also make catch-up contributions of $7,500 in 2024, beyond the basic limit on elective deferrals.
