To substitute teach at CUSD, we require that you hold the following:
- a Bachelor's Degree, - if you received your degree outside of the United States, your transcript must be evaluated by a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) approved agency.
- a 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit (or Single/Multiple Subject Credential), and
- CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test) or equivalent.

We offer our substitute teachers a competitive pay schedule. Substitute teachers who work 40 full days within one semester get a bonus, and long-term substitute teachers receive an additional bonus.
