2026-2027 Open Enrollment

The 2026-2027 Open Enrollment window will open again on June 8, 2026, at 8:00 am.

This window is for any family that would like their child(ren) to attend another attendance area school that is not their home attendance area school (the school assigned based on the residence address within the CUSD boundaries) and/or a CUSD alternative school.

Important Guidelines for Changing Your School Choice: If your child is already on an alternative or attendance area school waitlist and you want to change to a different school, you must email romero_eric@cusdk8.org to be removed from the previous waitlist before submitting a new application. If you do not do this, your new application will be declined.

Available Attendance Area Schools and Grade Levels

The following attendance area school grade levels have been identified as having adequate openings for families to apply for Open Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year:

• Transitional Kindergarten (TK): No sites available
• Kindergarten: Nimitz
• 1st Grade: De Vargas, Eaton, Nimitz, Sedgwick, Stevens Creek, and West Valley
• 2nd Grade: Nimitz and West Valley
• 3rd Grade: De Vargas
• 4th Grade: De Vargas, Eaton, Montclaire, Nimitz, and Sedgwick
• 5th Grade: Collins, Eaton, Garden Gate, and Stevens Creek
• 6th-8th Grade: No sites available

The following schools are identified as “large schools” for the 2026-2027 school year and have priority for Open Enrollment into non-impacted schools: Dilworth Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Stocklmeir Elementary. Please note that priority does not guarantee enrollment. 

Alternative Schools

In addition to the neighborhood schools listed above, CUSD alternative schools will also be open during this window to add students to their current existing waitlists. This includes:

• CLIP (Cupertino Language Immersion Program at Muir Elementary School, Grades K-5)
• Faria (Grades K-5)
• McAuliffe (Grades TK-8)
• Murdock-Portal (Grades K-5)

Students will be added to the existing waitlist in the order in which the submissions are received.

How to Apply

The Open Enrollment application form will go live at 8:00 am on June 8, 2026. To submit your request, please follow these steps:

1. Log into the ParentVUE registration portal.
   1. Please note: If you log into your ParentVue account, please click on the Online Registration tab on the upper right hand corner. If your child has never registered for CUSD, you must first complete registration prior to being able to apply for Open Enrollment.
2. Navigate to and select:
   1. If looking to apply for an Attendance Area School click on - 2026-2027 Attendance Area School Open Enrollment.
   2. If looking to apply for an Alternative School click on - 2026-2027 Alternative School Open Enrollment.
3. Fill out all required fields on the form completely and click submit.

The window will close at 4:00 pm on November 30, 2026, with no exceptions.

The important thing to remember is that this process is only for parents who want their child to go to a different attendance area school. It is not a backup plan for students who are overflowed to another attendance area school because their home attendance area school is too full—that will be assigned differently.

Summary of Results
Placement Offers: Initial offers are being extended only to TK students (McAuliffe) and Kindergarten students (Faria, McAuliffe, CLIP at Muir, and Murdock-Portal).

Waitlists: All other applicants (Grades 1–8) may log into ParentVUE to view their waitlist number.

Denials: Applications are marked "Denied" if mandatory tours/meetings were not attended. Attendance is verified by school sites; please contact the school directly with any attendance inquiries.

Required Actions
To Accept: If receive an offer letter sent via ParentVUE, log into ParentVUE Online Registration and click "Accept" or “Decline” within 72 hours of the receipt of the email. Failure to accept by this deadline will result in the offer being automatically declined and passed to the next student on the list.

To Remove from Waitlist: If you no longer wish to remain on a waitlist, you may click "Decline." Note: This action is final and cannot be undone.
