Priority Open Enrollment Window for Kindergarten through 8th grade
for attendance area schools
March 16, 2026 at 8:00 am, through March 27, 2026 at 4:00 pm

Open Enrollment is your chance to apply for a school that is different from the one your address is assigned to. Every address in the district belongs to one main school (your "attendance area school"). If you want your child, from Kindergarten through 8th grade, to attend a different CUSD attendance area school, you apply during this window, which happens in March 2026.

The important thing to remember is that this process is only for parents who want their child to go to a different attendance area school. It is not a backup plan for students who are overflowed to another attendance area school because their home attendance area school is too full—that will be assigned differently. 

Steps for Open Enrollment

1. Obtain Your Perm ID:
   • New Students: You must have completed Priority Registration to receive a Perm ID number.
   • Current Students: Your Perm ID is available via your ParentVue account.
2. Submit the Form: Submit your Open Enrollment application via ParentVue during the window. (Link will be provided at 8:00 am on March 16th.) No exceptions will be made to the March 27, 4:00 PM deadline.
   • Please Review Your Application Carefully Before hitting "Submit" please double-check that your school choice is correct. Our enrollment system locks in your selection the moment it is submitted, and no changes can be made thereafter. No exceptions will be made.
   • Selection Limit: Parents may choose one attendance area school for their application.
   • Single Submitter: To prevent duplicate entries, one parent or guardian may submit the application per student.

Available Schools & Grade Levels

The following schools and grades are available for open-enrollment applications during this window. If a school or grade level is not listed, it is currently at capacity and unavailable for open enrollment.

• Blue Hills - 1st Grade
• De Vargas - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade
• Eisenhower - 3rd Grade
• Montclaire - Kindergarten and 1st Grade
• Nimitz - 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Grade
• Sedgwick - 1st and 3rd Grade
• Stevens Creek - Kindergarten and 1st Grade
• West Valley - Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Grade
• Hyde, Kennedy, Lawson - 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade

Note: Dilworth, Lincoln, Stocklmeir, Cupertino MS, and Miller MS are considered large schools and are not available for Open Enrollment applications.

Priority Open Enrollment Window for Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade
for alternative schools/programs is now CLOSED.

It will re-open to add your student to the waitlist in June 2026.

2026–2027 Alternative School Lottery Results
Results will be published in ParentVUE on March 4, 2026, at 8:00 AM.

The lottery for the upcoming school year has been processed. Please refer to the detailed email sent to the applying parent/guardian via ParentSquare for complete instructions and terms.

Summary of Results
Placement Offers: Initial offers are being extended only to TK students (McAuliffe) and Kindergarten students (Faria, McAuliffe, CLIP at Muir, and Murdock-Portal).

Waitlists: All other applicants (Grades 1–8) may log into ParentVUE to view their waitlist number.

Denials: Applications are marked "Denied" if mandatory tours/meetings were not attended. Attendance is verified by school sites; please contact the school directly with any attendance inquiries.

Required Actions
To Accept: If receive an offer letter sent via ParentVUE, log into ParentVUE Online Registration and click "Accept" or “Decline” within 72 hours of the receipt of the email. Failure to accept by this deadline will result in the offer being automatically declined and passed to the next student on the list.

To Remove from Waitlist: If you no longer wish to remain on a waitlist, you may click "Decline." Note: This action is final and cannot be undone.
