In order to finance the construction or reconstruction of school facilities needed to accommodate increased student enrollment resulting from new development, the governing Board may establish, levy, and collect developer fees on residential, commercial, and industrial construction within the District, subject to restrictions specified by law.

In 1987, the Board of Education enacted developer fees to defray the costs of providing additional classroom facilities to serve student enrollment growth resulting from new development. Effective May 13, 2026, the fee is revised to $3.23 per square foot for residential developments and $0.52 per square foot for commercial developments. 

Homeowners and Developers must first secure the Developer Impact Fee Compliance referral form from the corresponding City of their building project address and then email the form to CUSD's Property Department for payment instructions and calculation of fees at:  veloria_mike@cusdk8.org. Acceptable forms of payment are online payment, checks or money orders only.
