Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Kim

After earning my BA and teaching credential at San Francisco State University, I started my teaching career in the San Francisco Unified School District in 2000 where I taught second, fourth, and fifth grades in the Korean Immersion Program (KIP) at Claire Lilienthal Elementary School.

In addition to my teaching experience, I have also had the opportunity to learn from some of the finest teachers and mentors at the National Board Resource Center at Stanford University while working towards my certification in Literacy Development in Early and Middle Childhood (ages 3-12) from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, which I earned in 2008.

My family and I finally made the move from San Francisco to Cupertino in 2013 once my husband moved jobs from San Francisco to Palo Alto.  I have two children Zoe and Joshua who are also in the Cupertino School District and I am proud to call myself both a teacher and a parent at Murdock-Portal.

When I'm not busy teaching, my family and I enjoy visiting our extended family and friends in Hawaii where I grew up and in my spare time I like to bake, read, and garden with my children.

Each year, I look forward to beginning a new and wonderful adventure with my teaching partner, Mrs. Yee, and getting to know my students and their families.
