Degrees and Certifications:
Hello, my name is June Mazon and I am a 4th grade teacher at Meyerholz. I grew up in the Evergreen area of San Jose and taught in the Evergreen Elementary School District prior to coming to Meyerholz. I graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a minor in Urban Education, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. While in college, I studied abroad in Italy for almost four months. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures. Countries I have visited include Philippines, Italy, Germany, Thailand, Indonesia, Austria, and the Czech Republic. When I’m not traveling, I enjoy Filipino cultural dancing and watching Warriors games. My favorite thing to eat is shabu-shabu, a Japanese hotpot dish.
Classroom Information: 4th grade is a huge leap from 3rd! Students are expected to demonstrate more independence, while also work on their collaborative skills. In my class, I like to provide students with many opportunities to practice these skills, as well as provide different ways for students to demonstrate their understanding of 4th grade concepts. This includes, but is not limited to, using technology, group projects, individual projects, research reports, quizzes, and tests.
