HELLO!!! My name is Jessica Livoti, and I am a loud, jolly born and bred New Yorker!

For the past year I have been a preschool teacher at The Google Children’s Center in Sunnyvale, California. Before I moved to California in July of 2016 with my husband, I had the privilege of being a home-based therapist for two teenage boys with Autism Spectrum Disorder (moderate/severe). I had been a therapist for one of the boys for close to 10 years and had watched him grow and flourish through multiple intervention strategies, along with being a part of their non-profit organization, Autism Speaks. I had the privilege of watching a small Non-Profit Organization built out of love for their grandson into a world-wide organization bringing awareness to Autism and Special Needs.

Over the past several years I have had several opportunities to travel and teach in many different settings. In 2011, I was in the Kingdom of Bhutan as a teacher for children with both general and special needs. I taught within a rural school, in home, and hospital settings with varying ages, and development and physical abilities. I was also able to help launch an NGO with support from Autism Speaks to help support families with children with severe special needs. These experiences have helped me grow and solidify my deep passion for working with children, both domestically and abroad. OHH, I also met my husband in Bhutan!!! :)

Though my experiences within families’ homes and many educational settings, I have gained a rich background in teaching different ages, developmental abilities, intervention, and behavioral strategies while also being sensitive to cultural and family differences. It has also helped me understand the deeply important relationship needed between families and educational staff in order to fully support the child and family to the greatest capacity.

In 2014 I graduated from Bank Street College of Education with my Master’s and New York State credentials in Infant and Family Development and Early Intervention / Early Childhood Special and General Education. I have my undergraduate for Fordham University in Political Science.

Being a part of a school district that emphasizes community and family involvement, and understands that the school and family dynamic is a partnership to a child’s overall development is what I’ve always looked forward to. These elements are the foundation of a happy and healthy school, child, and family.

SOME OF MY FAVORITE THINGS: Being outside, being active, my family, FOOD of all kinds, and lots and lots of HUGS!
