Degrees and Certifications:
I was born in New York City and lived briefly on the East Coast, then moved to Rochester, Minnesota in the Midwest for nine years. Finally, my family moved to Santa Barbara, California as I entered 5th grade; I have been a Californian ever since! After working as a Microbiologist doing research and clinical work for 12 years, I followed my heart into Education 20 years ago. I have taught every grade from kindergarten to eighth, focusing on 4th-6th grades, and was an Assistant Principal for four years. During my 20 years in Education, I became an AVID teacher, a National Board Certified Teacher in Science, and provided professional development to other teachers in math for 3 years. I have two sons—one is working in San Francisco and the other is earning his MBA, soon to be in San Francisco, too. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, music and dance, and spending time with my family. I am thrilled to be teaching at Faria!
