Citizen's Advisory Committee

  • Having completed the five Board Listening Sessions, followed by the Board discussion, the CUSD Board of Education approved the formation of a Citizens Advisory Committee charged with developing a concrete plan to use facilities in new ways that take into account both immediate/urgent budgetary issues, as well as provide long-term fiscal solvency and stability. It is our hope that the proposed plan addresses ways to balance enrollment, in concert with the Board's stated criteria/guiding principles.

The first draft of the plan will be ready for presentation to the Board for consideration at one of its meetings in June 2020.

This Superintendent's Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), led by a third-party neutral facilitator, will meet at least five times (Usually in 3-hour sessions) between March and June.  Over that same period, Board Meetings will be held in order for the Board and the public to hear and make comments on what the CAC has discussed and accomplished up to that time. Like all meetings of the Board, these are open public meetings that have time set aside for Public Comment.

Applications were due on February 17, 2020, by 5 PM. Applications are currently being reviewed and all applicants will be contacted regarding the status of their application. The composition of the group will be determined by an outside contractor with input from a Judge to ensure objectivity, neutrality, balance, and equity.

The Committee will meet on the following dates from 5:30-8:30 pm

    • March 19, 2020 (Thursday)
    • April 2, 2020 (Thursday)
    • April 29, 2020 (Wednesday)
    • May 4, 2020 (Monday)
    • May 27, 2020 (Wednesday)
