Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Mingshi Hui

Hello to the West Valley community!

I’m Mingshi Hui, and this is my first year at West Valley! It was nerve wracking coming to a new school, but everyone in the community has been incredibly welcoming and supportive as I navigate through school as a new West Valley teacher.

I grew up in the Bay, but I was born in China. My family and I often visited our relatives in China, and it’s nice to see the different aspects of these two different cultures. I attended UC Irvine, and got my Bachelor’s of the Arts in both Education and Psychological Sciences. After I graduated from UCI, I went and got my Master’s in Education and teaching credentials at San Jose State University.

Outside of teaching and sharing stories with my class, I like to read, work on my bullet journal,

watch shows as I lounge on my bed, and catch up with friends whenever the time allows. I have started to visit beaches and go on hikes more often because it makes me more mindful of nature and how amazing it is. It helps me focus more on the present and also helps me disconnect from electronic devices for a bit.

I always think it’s great to develop meaningful relationships with students, and create an opportunity for them to create these connections with their peers as well. This is my first year with fifth graders, and I’m excited and happy to be part of their journey in preparing for middle school and for the years to come!
