Principal's Message

  • A Message from our Principal

    Dear Dilworth Families,

On behalf of the Dilworth staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year!

As we launch another school year with modernized classrooms, I am reflecting on what an incredible place Dilworth is to teach and learn.  I thank you for instilling a love of learning in your children.

Please join me in welcoming new staff members to our outstanding Dilworth staff!  Michael Green joins us to teach our 2nd-3rd grade SDC class; Savita Badala will be serving as an Instructional Assistant in this class as well.  Our Upper Grade PE classes will be taught by Dennis Harting and assisted by Nicole Lilly. Novita Dewi joins us as our Upper Grade Music teacher.

We will be continuing to work on the implementation of the Common Core State Standards with critical thinking and collaborative opportunities across subject areas and the integration of technology.  Last year, we launched the writer’s workshop curriculum and this year we will work with trainers from the Teacher’s College in New York to further refine our writing instruction.

Our staff is excited to partner with you this year in providing enriching experiences for our students, both in and out of the classroom.  Your support and participation during the school year is much appreciated.  I hope you join our Home and School Club and are able to volunteer on campus in some capacity.  You can continue to support your child’s learning at school by:

    1. Ensuring students are at their classroom ready to learn by 8:30 AM each day.
    2. Encouraging your children to share their school-work and classroom experiences with you.
    3. Establishing time as a family to read and to make sure homework is completed.
    4. Engaging in experiences together: go for a hike, visit a museum, share a work project, try out a new recipe, etc.

Our Dragon Rules guide us to Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe, and Be Caring.  We will be reviewing these agreements with students in the first few weeks of school and will share the information with you as well.

To stay up to date on events at school, please be sure to read our school newsletter, the Dragon Dispatch, to check out our new website at: and to follow us on Twitter (@DilworthDragon).
