Nick Prychodko - Principal
I am very fortunate to be the principal of De Vargas Elementary. Prior to becoming the principal during the 2016-2017 school year I was an assistant principal at (AP) Cupertino Middle School. Before coming to CUSD I was a district administrator in the Mountain View Whisman School District, and an AP and teacher in Tucson, Arizona where I completed both my Masters (Special Education) and Bachelor (Sociology and Creative Writing) degrees.
I am originally from Philadelphia, PA and am still a big fan of everything Philly, especially the sports teams. Outside of school I very much enjoy, reading, gardening, and spending time with my wife and daughter. GO LIONS!!!
Tanya Robertson - School Secretary
I'm a Northern California native with two amazing daughters. I've lived here, in the Bay Area, since my children were born and love the beautiful melting pot we call home. As a former Transitional Kindergarten and preschool teacher for the Fremont Union High School District, I understand the intricacies of schools and the importance of a quality education. I was raised by a teacher and grew up in and around schools. I love watching education take shape. I love spending quality time with my children, watching movies, listening to music, reading, and fixing or creating things. Life-long learning is my goal...It's never too late. My hope is to create a welcoming and happy environment in the front office for, both, the DeVargas staff and its community. We're all in this together.
--Accept and Respect. We are all different.--
Salina Nelson - School Secretary
My name is Salina Nelson and I am one of the school secretaries for De Vargas Elementary School. I graduated from San Jose State University in 2007 with a BA in English. My intention was to continue in the credential program to obtain a single subject credential and one day teach either high school or middle school English. However, about halfway through the credential program, I took a job as a school secretary for a private middle school. It was then that I knew working in a school office environment was where I thrived. A few years later, I began working for De Vargas Elementary School and it has been one of the best working experiences of my career. I enjoy working with teachers and students on a daily basis. In my free time, my husband and I love going to classic car shows with his truck club and attending Bay Area baseball games. We also welcomed our first baby, a girl named Lillie, in October 2017. She keeps us very busy!
Jennifer Larsen - Resource Specialist
I am the Resource Specialist for Devargas. I love making learning fun and exciting for all students!
Meghan Trutter - Intervention Specialist
I'm the Intervention Specialist at De Vargas Elementary. I love helping students reach their learning goals in reading from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Also, if you need a recommendation of some great books at your reading level, I can help you! In my spare time I like to travel, do improv, go hiking, READ, listen to my favorite podcasts, and cook or bake for my family and friends.
Mark Loundy - Instructional Technology Specialist, CREATE Makerspace Manager
I am a former journalist, photographer, video producer and social media pioneer. As an online community manager at GeoCities at the turn of the century, I helped build the foundations of what we now call social media. I brings all of those skills to education as an innovative instructional technology specialist at De Vargas.
I founded and operate CREATE, the De Vargas makerspace (the first in the Cupertino Union School District,) and lead both the video production team and afterschool Tech Team.

Prior to working with Cupertino Union School District, Vanessa worked and interned at Franklin McKinley, Evergreen, and Alum Rock Union school districts, gaining a breadth of experience.
