General Information - Student Transportation Program

As we share our direction with school-based transportation, we want you to know that we appreciate your patience.  The Board and District took a deep look into our transportation program and weighed many options. The options included raising costs, increasing routes while eliminating other routes, building criteria to determine when the District could potentially run a route, and how can we serve our families with need.

Ultimately, the current routes produce a huge deficit in the District budget and the increased need for Special Education transportation has forced the Board and District into making a difficult decision to put an indefinite pause starting in the 2020-2021 school year on providing transportation for our General Education students.  The routes impacted by the decision are for the following schools: De Vargas Elementary School, Eisenhower Elementary School, Montclaire Elementary School, Stevens Creek Elementary School, Stocklemeir Elementary School,  and Cupertino Middle School.

We will continue to explore ways to support families in the future with low-cost transportation options. We have reached out to city agencies and VTA to explore possibilities.

Students with transportation indicated as part of an Individualized Education Plan will continue to benefit from this service as necessary and appropriate.
