Cupertino Union School District Seeks Applicants for Board Vacancy
Cupertino, CA (December 17, 2018) -- On December 6, 2018, a vacancy was created on the Board of Education of the Cupertino Union School District (CUSD). Trustee Liang Chao filed her resignation as a CUSD Board Member with the Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools when she assumed office on the City Council in Cupertino, California.
On Thursday, December 13, 2018, the Cupertino Union School District Board voted unanimously to fill the Trustee vacancy by Board appointment. Beginning Monday, December 17, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. and ending on January 14, 2019, at 5:00 p.m., the Board will be accepting applications to fill the board vacancy by appointment. The link to the Board Member application can be found at the CUSD website (www.cusdk8.org).
The District will follow the process below for filling the Board Member vacancy:
Interested Board Member candidates must complete and submit the required application for the vacant seat by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019. No late submissions can be accepted.
After 5:00 p.m. on January 14, 2019, an appointed subcommittee of the Board of Education will screen all candidate applications and select finalists to be considered for the vacant position, based on criteria established by the CUSD Board of Education.
Finalist applications will be reviewed by the CUSD Board of Education on January 24, 2019, at a Special Board Meeting.
At the Board Advance on January 31, 2019, the CUSD Board of Education will interview all finalists. At that same meeting, a hearing for public comment will take place.
It is the intent of the Board to appoint a new Board Member on January 31, 2019, and no later than the Monday, February 4, 2019 deadline.
